ABOUT

Hey, nice to meet you.

I've been known to ramble, so I'll keep this part brief. I write a lot of surrealism, absurdism, squalor, and comedy. I take a lot of inspiration from media which straddles the line between horror and reality, blending the strange and dream-like with the mundane. I'm a firm believer in the notion that comedy and horror can heighten one other, and that absurdity opens potential to explore fascinatingly human stories.

I'm a Chicagoland native with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing from Columbia College Chicago. I'm planning on pursuing an MFA in Fiction next year. When I'm not working, I spend my days reading, painting, refinishing furniture, and building dioramas.

The 100-Word Bio Part:

Evie “Ted” Roth is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where she has earned a Creative Writing BA. Her work has been included in several publications, including Phi Theta Kappa’s Nota Bene, Allium, Graphé and Regina Taylor’s Black Album Mixtape. Ted’s work portrays themes of alienation, queerness, surrealism, and humor. Current projects of hers feature a queer cadaver lab romance, a ceramic leprechaun’s existential crisis, and one man’s love affair with a slaughterhouse sow.
